Earthrise is a seasonal offering that changes four times per year on each solstice and equinox. Each season will highlight and support a small lot farmer and the work they are doing to promote soil health on their farm.
The first step for some farmers is easing out of a conventional farming system that has become reliant on chemical inputs. As with most good things, this process takes time.
This year's winter Earthrise features a coffee grown by Frank Torres and his family in the Nariño region of Colombia. Frank has been actively encouraging more bee activity within the farm, planting shade trees, and consciously working to return organic material to his soils with the intention of fully transitioning away from using chemical inputs.
By offering Frank's coffee we are supporting the transition of his farm off of chemical inputs and developing a relationship with him that we hope can grow into more transition projects within his community.
