Coffee beans are actually the seeds of a fruit called a coffee cherry. Grown mainly in the "bean belt" near the equator, coffee is highly vulnerable to climate change, which threatens its future and the livelihoods of farmers. Without shifting to regenerative farming practices that work with nature, coffee could become scarce and expensive. Overview believes that environmental stewardship is key to preserving coffee, ecosystems, and farmer wellbeing.
Overview Coffee uses 100% recyclable #4 LDPE bags instead of compostable PLA because they're more likely to be recycled, more durable, and easier to process. Compostable bags sound good but often end up in landfills due to limited composting facilities and misleading labeling. While plastic isn’t perfect, it's currently the most practical, lower-impact option available.
